Our Top 5 Activities in Tampa Bay for toddlers
Our top 5 activities in Tampa Bay for toddlers
Visiting Tampa Bay? Just moved here? or just had a baby? We have you covered with a quick and simple list of our top 5 activities for toddlers in Tampa Bay!
First up is the Zoo at Lowry Park

This is at the top of my list for things to do with a toddler, and even a baby. In this photo my baby was less than 1 year old, and we did a special animal experience and met a very old tortoise! I recommend buying a “Pay for a day, Get the year” pass. It is exactly as stated, you pay for the day and get the rest of the year free! (some minor blackout dates apply).
The Florida Aquarium

Next is the Florida Aquarium. I would recommend this the most for toddlers who are able to walk around a little bit. Getting a stroller through here can be a struggle. But ultimately, very young children are mesmerized by the exceptional underwater views. Here, my daughter is 13 months, looking into a large viewing window. I think that the prices here are a little steep, but they honor some discounts if you have another membership (such as a Glazer Children’s Museum membership).
Glazer Children’s Museum

This museum is also a top contender on our list. We have a museum membership, which is worth its weight in gold. We have definitely got our moneys worth out of it. It is especially useful if you live close by in the city. I have been taking my kids here since before they could walk. The museum is in the gorgeous Curtis Hixon park on the river, another great place to bring your kids.
Horsepower For Kids animal sanctuary

HorsePower for Kids is an outdoor animal sanctuary and family fun farm located in northwest Tampa near Oldsmar and Westchase. We have only been here once, but we absolutely loved it. They have unique animals here such as a kangaroo and a sloth! The kids loved the play areas as well, with a corn pit and all. According to the website, you can enjoy: Animal Petting Area ~ Pony rides ~ Playground ~ Western Town ~ Tire & Bench Swings ~ Tree House ~ Corn Pit ~ Maze
Admission is $14 per person, and babies 12 months and under are free. If you are just looking to try this place out, its $5 per person EVERY 1st Thursday of the month.
Julian B Lane Riverfront Park

If you’re looking for a free option, this 25 acre park in downtown Tampa boasts a covered playground, a splash pad with a bucket of fun, pickle ball/tennis ball courts, tons of green space, a dog park, and a spectacular view. A big plus for our family with small children are the very CLEAN and large family friendly bathrooms right next to the playground.
