Hosting a Memorable Pumpkin Decorating Party
Pumpkin Decorating Party
As the leaves turn fiery shades and the air grows crisp, it’s the perfect time to host a festive autumn gathering. And what better way to celebrate the season than by throwing a Pumpkin Decorating Party? This post will guide you through every detail, from pumpkin decorating essentials to delicious treats and charming decorations.
Pumpkin Decorating Essentials
Opt for real pumpkins or carve-able pumpkins. I found the ones below on Amazon. The cost for carve-able pumpkins online is about $20 per pumpkin for a decent size. I have also seen carve-able pumpkins at the Dollar Store although they are much smaller! You can make the party BYOP (bring your own pumpkin). For more Halloween inspiration, visit more of our posts! I love the white carve-able pumpkins!
Options for Decorating Your Pumpkin
My kids love to decorate small pumpkins with stickers. Once the stickers go bad, you can use the pumpkin again to carve or paint. Having a variety of stickers is also a good option for very small children (think toddler). Painting is a better option for older children and carving for teens and adults!
Stickers
The best Halloween stickers- a lot of fun in general for kids. Always have some on hand!
If you’re going to paint- I really recommend tracing/stencils and paint markers!
Carving
Good old fashion carving. I recommend just buying a set- it includes all of the tools as well as lights.
Table Covers and Aprons
Things will get messy. Have a way to keep everyone clean and happy through the night! Disposable aprons can get the job done.
Food and Beverage
Hosting a pumpkin decorating party in itself will take a lot of work, don’t complicate it with a large meal. Keep it smaller and offer hot chocolate, coffee, themed cocktails, or fall beers. For food, offer a variety of deserts and/or snack options.
Decorating your space
Create a cozy and festive atmosphere. Consider a mini pumpkin patch, fall foliage, string lights, and centerpieces.
Activities, Games, and PRIZES!
Like any party, it is important to keep the momentum keep. Obviously you are going to be decorating your pumpkins. Consider having other activities as well such as a scavenger hunt, pumpkin bowling, and a contest with prizes for best decorating.
Masks just for fun!
